Pittsburgh Kilts
What is the general consensus of those on the boards owning a PK? I'm considering one at the moment.

I have 3 PK's. Jeff is a top notch guy and his kilts rock. I would have no reservations about orderly a PK. I have a custom Patriots kilt and a lined camo and an unlined camo.

Great customer service. Well constructed product. You can't go wrong. I have a flannel lined black Pittsburgh kilt that looks great.

How is his turn-around time (just curious on this count). And how 'sturdily built' do you feel his work is?

Turnaround is great. Jeff estimated 5 weeks and I got a notice today that it shipped -- one day later than 5 weeks. They got hit with colds which slowed down production.

It took about 4 weeks to get the kilt. It is extremely well made and the material is a heavy weight dyed denim. I really like the side pockets.

How about construction, in regards to apron size/tapering, number of pleats, pleat depth...

Mine has 14 pleats. Pleat depth is 2" deep with double depth (4") on the first pleat on either side of the apron. The under and over apron are 17" at the bottom and 12" at the top on a 34" waist. It has metal fasteners similar to those on dress slacks but about 1" wide with 3 fastener positions 1" apart to make the waist slightly adjustable. It has a 2-1/2" waistband with 5 belt loops that are large enough to accomodate a 2" wide belt. The under apron has a pocket with a 6" plastic zipper. The 2 front belt loops have permanently attached D loops positioned for hanging a sporran.
It is a well thought out garment, and I've worn it a lot since I got it in Nov.

Just get the damn kilt, J.
I own 5 PK's: corduroy standard, lined denim, suede, combat kilt and formal Rob Roy. All are excellent. Once design was finalized, I had each in, I think, 10 days or under. Jeff will give you exactly what you ask for, so be specific.
I recommend the hidden pockets. And get a zipper in the under-apron pocket. I like the suede a lot: well worth the extra cost.

I love my PK. I got it in Dec and it has become the "go to" kilt for winter (it is lined which is why I bought it). The workmanship is great.
However, it I get another (and will 12 different kilts at the moment I can't really justify it at this time), it needs at least 1 more belt loop (I end up with my Gerber in the middle of my back or falling off everytime I remove my belt). Additionally, the metal fasteners (I do love the adjustablilty) have started to come off ater only 2 1/2 months. I have resewn one and it wasn't a big deal.
Jeff was very helpul in getting me sized and everything else I needed.
