Some guys have the sterotypical "I'm gay" look. And some have features that say "gay." (This is, of course, the common [mis]conception.)

As far as how to respond, take it as a compliment. One you might have preferred to do without, but a compliment nonetheless ;)

But even if it was a great picture, I did not know that being gay was something that someone could pick up on just by looking at you. Maybe I am wrong.

Dude, you have seen his picture and you also made a comment about how he looks. here is a reminder: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...0&page=1&pp=10

    Raphael,

Sure, but there I was focused on the snowfall, the kilt, and the jacket, in that order, and I paid no attention to who was wearing the kilt. As my wife says in similar circumstances, I am such a typical man! Which is brings up another one of my male/female gender differences. Why is it that a woman invariably (at least in my experience) describes someone based on their hair color and style? If I am trying to describe someone to another person, I always start with their height, clothes, race, etc.. However, my wife, and every other woman I have encountered, starts with hair color and style, "Remember that blonde with the Pamela Anderson cut?" or "that lady with the red hair and cut like Barb's?". As a man, the hair color and style are probably the last thing I notice about a woman (won't mention the first!):grin:

    Anybody else noticed this?

I have noticed that, and many other differences in the way men and women behave in different situations. For the sake of avoiding hijacking the thread, I'll refrain for now

I've been hit on by gay guys before, but never whilst kilted. Actually, a gay guy told me I had a nice backside...on stage...during a show. It was all I could do not to break character.

I think it's kinda funny, but I'm not interested.

Maybe you shouldn't wear so much make-up and perfume. (Just kidding).

I've known a few gay people in my life, but none of them were kilt-wearers. I think that a kilt is an unmistakable sign of masculinity, but obviously there are others who don't think like that. I had a guy hit on me once whilst kilted, and I asked him why he thought I might be gay. He kind of stuttered, "Well, you're wearing... uh... looks like a kilt. I just... never mind." Considering all the female attention I tend to receive (I'm not bragging here, as all you kilt-wearers know) I can tolerate the occasional male flirtations.

I have always been told that "It takes one to know one", but I have never (as far as I can recollect) been "hit upon", so that hasn't worked for me!!

Some guys, gay or straight, just play the averages hoping to get lucky. I wouldn't take it personally.
