I enjoy Dalwhinne but I love Highland Park.
Oban is on my wish list.

I stayed right beside the distillery in Oban and never even tried it until years later. I tried Dalwhinnie a few months ago and fell in love with it (after the hang over of finishing half the bottle between 3 of us wore off). I am still think of MacCallans 12 year as well. I might as well stock the cupboard for some time to come. I haven't tried Highland Park but have heard great things

Always have a bottle of The Glenlivet on hand for the wife (made the mistake of letting her have one at the Longs Peak Highland Festival one year) another of either Oban, Cragganmore or one of the Wood Finish Glenmorangie's on hand. Occasionally I will have something else. Right now it is a bottle of Old Pulteny. Not my favorite but at $25 it sure beats not having any Single Malt around.

Unfortunatly I live in a land of no special offers on spirits so I have to pay full wack.
However my Christmas gift to myself this year will be a Laphroaig quarter cask or an Ardbeg 10yo.....
I love Laga... too enjoy the power Andrew ;-)

The Oban 14 is my favorite tipple but I keep Laphroig and the Macallan on hand. The Dalwhinnie is an excellent dram and I have yet to try Highland Park.
The Springbank 10 is good but it didn't suit my palate and after scouring the southern part of New Mexico I have learned that Albuqurque is the only place I can get the Ardbeg 10 though the price is quite good I just don't get up that way much.

I usually keep several bottles of Balvenie 12 year old double casked single malt in the house at any given time. If I finish one I like to know that another is in the cupboard. But I'm also really partial to the 30 year old, however I don't drink that one too quickly.
If any of you happen by in San Francisco I highly recommend a trip to the Whiskey Shoppe. It's in the back of the Hector Russel store and they have the most amazing selection I've ever seen of scotch.

I drink Kentucky Spirit. It is really good single barrel bourbon from my friends at Wild Turkey. It's not as bad as some of the prices you guys flash for single malt, but it is a little pricey. I really like single barrel bourbons. No snide remarks if you haven't tried them, and remember I'm a native son of Kentucky. And, 100% of the world’s single barrel is made within 45 miles of my house.
On the bar I have a decanter and most of my friends assume it is also a single barrel and invite themselves over for a taste as often as they think appropriate. I keep Wild Turkey 101 in the decanter and don't tell those that can't tell the difference. Family and good friends know where the good stuff is and we share that!
Just thought you might like a tip to ease the budget a bit.

For Bourbon, you just can't beat Maker's Mark. Makes a great Mint Julep! ;)
I am a loyal supporter of The Macallan, but lately I've developed a taste for Laphroaig as well. I also have a bottle of Tullamore Dew that I'm working on -- I'm not much on Irish whiskeys, but Tullamore Dew is a nice exception.
Cheers,
Todd

I've got a bottle of Elmer T. Lee, and Eagle Rare - 10 yr. Both are excellent, for bourbon. ;) I do tend to prefer Scotch aged in wine casks though.
