kilted in north dakota

Welcome from Northern VA. I've been complaining about the cold recently but I've been to ND in the winter time. Now that I've been reminded I feel a little warmer. :-)

thanks all for the warm welcome. seems like you all are a group of really nice and interesting people.

now on to the cold issues. i wore the kilt out for the first time today. took my dog for about a mile walk wearing the SWK standard, thick all wool kilt hose, and a pair of sorel pac boots (surprisingly, pac boots don't look as good with a kilt as you'd think :razz: ) anyway, it was about 10° F and my knees got a bit cold, but not too bad. but then again i like the cold so it was no big deal for me. sometimes i take her for walk in the winter in shorts so i'm used to it. i'd say a kilt would be comfortable for walking around down to 0° F as long as the wind stays down, at least for me. below that i'd say it would only be good for running to and from the car, but that's what i do in pants at that temp anyway. and i absolutely wouldn't wear it once the temp went below -30° F. below -30° F exposed skin can freeze in a matter of minutes especially when there's a good alberta clipper blowing. then you get wind chills in the -50° F range. just not worth risking frost bite on my knees or more delicate areas.

Think I paid $5.00 for my Universal Life minister card back in the 60s. Never got around to marrying folks though. Good on you. Thought the states just needed their paperwork and anything else was smoke and mirrors.

You'll be doing kilted weddings now eh?

minnesota requires you to register your credentials with the clerk of the court. they declined to register them becuase the clerk decided the ULC doesn't qualify. we filed suit stating that it is not the clerk of the courts job to interpret state and constitutional law. they backed down real quick.

i will be performing a kilted wedding in april. i'm very excited to try it out in that setting.

And here in VA we have similar registration requirements but the clerks are very lax about it at least in the northern part of the commonwealth.
