Thanks to Hermann I already have one of these gorgeous pins, seen here on my Geoffrey (Tailor) Northumberland / Shepherd / Falkirk tartan kilt.
As for the two fixing tacks: believe me, these are no-nonsense tacks and will certainly hold the pin in place - whatever!
Hermann's pin looks particularly effective on a darker tartan and is stunning on a dark, plain kilt (eg: black). Mine has been much admired.
