I agree, change the shirt and I like the hose color - a bit paler than lovat green.

I like what I see. The shirt I may have problems with, but the smile seems to offset that.

It is good to see another wearer of the St.Davids tartan, and you wear it well (although I have to agree with others' comments regarding the shirt - sorry!). I am intrigued, however, as a non-Welsh speaking sort-a fella, by your description in Welsh: "Dewi Sant Cenedlaethol". When I bought mine from the Wales Tartan Centre in Cardiff in 2005, I was told that it is "Brithwe Dewi Sant". Was I misinformed or are there different ways of naming the tartan?

Lovely kilt, I like the way the colors stand out in the sun! Very good looking. I do like your Argyll as well! I am going to have to start looking at a colored jacket ther than black option as well.

I did have a bit of fun in Hector Russell where I bought it. Moira the sales lady said it was a day jacket, not an Argyll, but when I checked the label it said "ARG" so unless it's an Argentina jacket it could well be seen as a variant to the slightly more formal black Argyll jackets.

I have always understood that traditionally an Argyll jacket is a tweed day-wear jacket - the same style in black barathea for more formal wear being a fairly recent innovation........... but, I could be wrong, of course!

The Lovat Green kilt jacket came from Hector Russell in Edinburgh (Royal Mile Branch) and seems to match most of my kilts well.

"Brithwe" is Welsh for "tartan" Hamish, whereas "cenedlaethol" means "national" so the Cardiff shop called it "St David's Tartan" as opposed to the name of the Tartan being "St David's National." (as it is in English and from which I did a direct translation). I guess you could have "Brithwe Cenedlaethol Dewi Sant" and encompass the fact that it's a tartan and its name. It's not uncommon for a Welsh and English phrase for something to be expressed slightly differently.

Everyone has to start somewhere so I hope to progress from beginner in Hamishing to something more expert. I had the sun in my eyes and was trying to instruct friend Michael in how to use the camera and he was having problems with zooming it for some strange reason so he wasn't necessarily capturing the ideal moments!
