Here's my box-pleated kilt in 16 oz Ferguson Weathered. It looks - and is - tall on me, but since its damaged selvedge required a hem anyway, I may re-hem it later (when I have nothing else to do. )

This is my first box-pleated kilt. I made it out of a very light wool, no tartan, just vertical and horizontal green stripes on a black background.
It is not hand-sewn but machine-made.

Being only the second kilt I made IŽm quite proud how it came out!

My Ulster arrived
While I was off doing a training course my Ulster box-pleat arrived. What a joyous homecoming! This is the Ulster tartan, from the House of Edgar. The kilt was made by Matt Newsome, who is now my new hero.
Today is its first outing - I'm heading out to our local St.David/St. Piran's Day celebration of Wales and Cornwall. I'll have to change back into this once I get down to the party - I can ride my bike with a kilt short distances, but not when it is 20 degrees and very windy.....

Here is a shot of the pleats.

I love the Ulster tartan. Great choice. And, as always, Matt's work speaks for itself.

There's my Matt Newsome X Marks box pleat - don't have any good pictures of the pleats, though.
And finally, there's the prize of my collection, the Sackett by Matt Newsome:

Where did you have your jacket made? or where did you find a pattern for it? It looks very nice.

Dammit!
I have a box pleat in German National made by... Matt (who else?).
Digi-cam is busted though.
Nice tartan, 13oz... got it on special... I just happened to be browsing around his site at the right time, as this tartan (from what I have found) is typically a special weave. So hooray for me on that end.
Just no camera to shoot it with at the moment.
But if this thread is a sticky, I should be able to get around to it one of these days with enough asking around.

I really like box-pleated kilts. They look good, wear well and don't use up as much fabric as the knife-pleated kilts. When I looked at Matt's site I especially enjoyed seeing the workmanship and the two historical kilts that were pleated to no stripe or sett.
