Traffic was diverted off the High Street (The Royal Mile)
That may have been because of the military tattoo later in the day - the kilt shop which went on fire was in Princes Street not one of those in the High Street (Royal Mile).

Even the stock that was saved is going to smell like smoke forever. Alas.

As a person who inspects and reviews buildings for a living both historic and new this will be a great loss for the community. I'm glad they saved some stock. I would get my hands on some just for the historic value alone.

Hopefully they are open in time for my planned visit, which is sometime in Spring of '09. Would like to go in Aug, to see the Tattoo again, but I'll probably be hanging out in Georgia at that time, again.
I'm a well rounded guy - English motorcycles, Irish brew, and Scottish clothes and music.

Yes...certainly a beautiful and historic building! Hopefully they will get up and running again.
I recall not too long ago, an American bagpipe company lost their shop to fire...a shame!
