That's an odd look in Kid's photo (I guess it's technically Matt's photo).
I personally just ordered a set of sporran hangers from Cav for the very reason mentioned above. To get my sporran to hang right with it's included chain means it either cuts me in two or is loose enough to slip under the belly and become unsightly...

If you have a larger build then a sporran hanger is going to help keep your sporran at the right height. As Matt mentioned, you are going to forgo the ease of being able to slide your sporran to your side (which is a usefull trick in many situations). As a gentleman who has yet to establish a corporation I would find that a sporran hanger would just drag down my belt too low.

Cav Scout
Does anyone have the website for Cav Scout? Me being of slightly generous proportions I would like one of the hangers...

That ought to be easier to slide around than a double strap sporran hanger, albeit somewhat unusual looking, right?
That is so wrong

It does look a little weird but honestly the purpse would be functionality and practibility. If it does the job, then that's what matters in my opinion. I wouldn't wear it because it just looks a little weird, but all power to him.

It's the same method used by this famous lad

When is a sporran a belt pouch? can they be both? Who invented liquid soap and why?

I have to add my support for Cavscout's sporran hangers. I bought a set not long ago and love them. (and at 38" I'm not all that corpulent). Also since I don't put my belts through the loops (if a particular kilt happens to have them) it's not really too hard to slide the sporran around either.

Yeah, I gotta say, I don't think the single hanger looks that odd, and it's certainly not wrong (in my opinion). I probably wouldn't spend a lot of money on one, but if I happened to find one cheap, in brown leather, I'd probably pick it up for a casual kind of look. Also, it would probably look better with a bigger sporran, at least as thick as it is).

I know a VERY ROTUND gent who wears the sporran suspenders...he looks good and it seems to serve its purpose very well.
