My own clans- Leddy and Wolfe- aren't native Scot clans. The Leddy's are from Clare County, Irland, and the Wolfe family were chased out of England into Scottland and Irland by the Vikings. We don't have a proper stone color, so we wear a cairnhorne. It goes with everything and is always appropriate. Oh, and as you can see in my avatar, the orange matches my tartan quite well. That being said, I am partial to blue stones in my broaches.

As a fellow of the clan, I must say that IT DOESN'T BLOODY MATTER!! You sir, are a MacGregor, you do as you want, wear what you want and the kilt police be d@#$%d! Just wearing the tartan can convert the most homely misanthrope into a refined gentleman. I offer the following as evidence......

    Kilt On Good Sir!!

If there are official stones its news to me. I think you will find that the choice of stone depends colour. There are not nearly enough distinguishable natural stone colours available by digging in the highlands for there to be stones for each clan. So wear what you like.

That would be better than someone pulling on your stones.

Like everyone else has said, I have never heard of official (or unofficial)stones for clans. So, choose a stone whose color will coordinate with the colors of the kilt and the rest of your outfit. If your looking for some significance, perhaps choose a birthstone. That's what I have done with some of my accessories. The stones are a topaz color, as that is my birthstone.
