I have finally gotten over getting pissed at anybody when they call my kilts a skirt. Most know the difference and are just trying to get a rise out of me, and are not worth the trouble. For those that really don't know the difference, like in your case, it may well take more time than you have to explain. Also, the language barrier can raise it's ugly head also. For instance, I know of no word in Spanish that translates to kilt, so I just use "kilt" and leave it at that. In the end a kilt is a male skirt - isn't it?
Nice story.

I say, its called a Kilt, because if we did not differentiate, then it would eventualy devolve everything in to its more base form!
I.e
White Poly Cotton Tank Top > White Cotton Shirt > Cotton Shirt > Shirt > cut cloth.
Can you see it now?
Bob: Hey dave, is that a new peice of cut cloth on your torso?
Dave: Sure is! I notice your wearing the same cut cloth on your legs as you were yesterday bob.
Dave: I know. I didnt do any laundry, so all I had was cut cloth, cut cloth, and cut clolth; but no clean cut cloth! I had to wear the same thign to day.
Fight the Man! Preserve specification and classification!
