OK more pics, this time on tartan background, but not me in it. Yes in the first picture it is three colors. I like things that are interesting.

I may change the buttons to something more "organic" on one or more of the flaps. I have not yet decided. This definitely puts my other sporran to shame. I am very happy with it indeed. Thanks Turpin !

Howard that is a great looking sporran, although I have to be honest, I think it would look better on a sporran belt rather than the belt hangars.

What kind of leather (elk, buffalo) was used to make it?

The front and rear panels are black deer-tanned cowhide , about 3.5 oz, and the gusset is a dark-brown elkskin. Flaps to match, and a flap in MacPherson weathered. That's a really attractive tartan, I must say.

Howard asked me to match the leathers he is expecting from Cavscout. Fortunately that elk skin is a near dead-on match. The nice thing about the two-tone sporrans is that you can wear them with either black or brown leathers by just changing flaps.

And for what it's worth, I will be wearing it with a sporran strap, rather than the hanger I made, when it (the strap) gets here. I made the hanger because the first Rob Roy sporran I got from the ren faire had no belt, and the one I made from a leather strap and short chains (in an attempt to do what I thought was "right" based on what little I knew) did not work out all that well. I did not like the look of it, nor the potential wear from the chains.

This is a serious bit of kit, and a very large upgrade for me. I am very happy with it. Can't wait to see what Matt did with the MacPherson cloth I sent him for another kilt. The one in the pictures is one I made, and not up to Matt's standards (not even close).

I think I am feeding an addiction now... Oh well, it could be much worse.

They're great aren’t they? I tend to be rough on my sporrans to I have to buy the ones that are well made. You'll never hear me criticize anyone for buying the cheaper ones, but I'd just tear them up
