I have two LL Bean commando sweaters and can attest to their superb fit, looks and quality. As far as I know they don't offer a V-neck but do offer a 4 button henley front that might do in a pinch.

Ah! I very much like Orvis clothing! The mechanic sweaters are not what I have in mind, but by happenstance, I already have the Barbour Heritage Cowen Commando Jacket, which they carry. For daily casual wear with jeans, I wear the Orvis and Ex-Officio tech shirts. They're great. I recommend those.

The sportsmansguide British commando sweater in bluegray is spot on! If only I were that wee. It takes a 2XL to comfortably cover my rippling muscularity...or, fat, depending on your point of view. I'll do another search to see if I can find another vendor that carries sizes for those other than Hobbits and Lilliputians.

    Thanks, Riverkilt.

This is an excellent fall-back, if I cannot find what I want. This is pretty close, and may be close enough. I'll see.

Thanks, JRB, Auld Argonian, and Tricam.

Try ebay. I got a black v neck but they had green and blue also. With shipping they are also ussually the cheapest, at least here in Canada.

Yeah, druid! I have one very similar from Cabelas. It looks like yours, except the elbow patches are square. Mine is also a crew-neck and is not designed like the military style. Still, I like it a lot and wear it with jeans and slacks.

    You can try this:

    or this:

I've found Sportsmans Guide to be a very good supplier for most things.

Thanks, thescot. I do like that style very much. But, the size is limited to munchkin dimensions, comparatively speaking.

Try Brigade Quartermasters in Georgia. I don't have the link offhand but google will provide it.
