Nope, you register at the Laphroaig website, prove purchase and they give you a plot and a certificate.

Convince 'em that it's awful & you'll take it all off their hands for 1/4 price

I do miss the 10 year. I have a bottle of the quarter cask, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as the 10 year.

Hey Beowulf67,
I suppose every good thread needs its token dissenter.
I've tried Laphraoig on several occasions, and I really made an honest effort to give it a fair shake. Nonetheless, I can't stand this stuff. It tastes terribly medicine-like to me. I get no pleasure from it.
To each his own. No doubt there's plenty of drinkers who'd gladly pass on my favorite malts. It's a blessing that there are so many from which to choose.
Slainte yall,

Steve,
I understand you perfectly. While I like Laphroaig, I don't like Ardbeg which I've heard wonderful things about. To me it tastes like the air in an old BBQ joint, without all the pork fat clinging to everything. (How's that for a nice image here at lunch time) It's just too "smoky" for me.
Like you, I'm also thankful for all the many varieties to choose from.
And I need to claim my plot.
