That's definitely true, Jimmy I'm sure once he gets more accessories he'll have more occasions to wear it. Sometimes he doesn't feel like dressing up that much and wants to buy some hiking boots for a more casual look (as well as hiking in the kilt). Hopefully we'll be able to get some more items for him so he can have a little variety for the occasion.
I just hope we do it before he loses too much more weight! He's been doing great with the weightloss, but the kilt is starting to get a little loose on him. Once it's too big for him, he may not buy another until he's closer to his goal weight. Ack!

Yes any night is a good night for the kilt (riding motocycles and painting the house excluded!)

I had to go kiltless for about 6 months, one time, for the same reason. Weight loss can sometimes put a crimp in one's kilt wearing.
What kind of kilt does your husband have? He might think of having it altered, but instructing the kiltmaker to size it a couple/few inches too small in the waist. That way, it'll be good incentive to keep the weight loss coming, but he'll also be able to keep kilted, by using the extra holes in the straps.
Desperate times...

It's a Stillwater Standard. I've mentioned to him we might be able to adjust it a little or find someone who can do it for him where it's not too noticeable. Here's hoping!

I'd like to be.
When I was there around Hogmany (just before and after - Dec. 30/Jan.2) I was the only kiltie in all of Glasgow, apparently....

Cynthia, two inches smaller is quite easy. There are some good descriptions in the archives. More than two inches, things get a little out of proportion; however I've gone three...
On the left side, the strap is moved from the edge of the apron over toward the right. With the SWK, you may want to add a small piece of fabric to the underside of the apron, just as reinforcement, where the strap will go. Don't worry about the extra apron fabric, just let it slide under the buttonhole.
On the right side, the top buckle is moved farther "around the corner." Likely the hip buckle can stay where it is. Wait until the top one is set, and see how it feels.
And tell him congratulations from us!
