I have NEVER had a problem with a MM PV kilt holding a pleat. In fact, when you take it out of the wash, you'll have to iron it, but the pleats are still VERY visible. If you wet wash wool, you will DEFINITELY have to iron it.

For summer wear, also consider a 13 oz wool "5 Yard" kilt. They are great as well and tend to swing nicely.

My USAK P/V kilts hold the pleats very well - they are practically indestructible.
My House of Edgar 13 oz wool 5 yard kilt holds the pleats real well. I guess it is just the care and feeding of the kilts. For the hot weather, I find the USAK Semi Traditional P/V kilts to be very comfortable, and able to hold the pleats rather well. What few wrinkles the P/V kilt gets whilst seated on the train, is well gone by the time I walk into the corner pub.

Like Woodsheal I have an 11 ounce hand sewn wool kilt because that was the only weight it was available in.

Excuse me while I snicker at folks in Michigan and Canada talking about "heat." Suppose its all relative though.

Don't notice much difference between my 11 oz wool and my USA Kilts PV semi-trads. USA Kilts Casuals are definately lighter than both.

I never iron my kilts. I use a portable steamer. Since my Gizmo broke I've gone to the Jiffy steamers, portable and floor model. Works great.

If I wash my PV kilts I hang dry on the shower rod from three WalMart hangars that have five clips each. Then I attach a weighted clip (half ounce fishing weights duct taped to each side of each clip) and the weight pulls each pleat into shape as the fabric dries. No need to iron.

Which kilt do I chose in hot weather. PV with Teflon coating if its liable to get dirty. Otherwise the wool.

I also have some 13 ounce wool kilts which I wear in the summer. Heck, I wear 16 ounce wool and leather kilts in the summer too.

    Wear what you enjoy.
