Speaking of Boondock Saints - which I haven't ever taken the time to see, btw - there's a funny/sad documentary called Overnight, about the director of the movie. He apparently thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and that he'd be the next king of all media.

A bit disappointing when your greatest rock album of all time sells barely more than 300 copies....

As an object lesson in hubris, Overnight's a great flick.

Not Scottish but I just wanted to add I loved watching Brad Pitt as the Irish traveller Mickey O'Neil in "Snatch". Subtitles were definitely needed.

This discussion reminds me of this synopsis of Brigadoon, and this funny line:

No doubt as a courtesy to the hordes of American tourists who drop in uninvited every hundred years, the accommodating denizens of the village have taken time out from their hectic social schedule to abandon Gaelic and learn modern-day English -- but they have thoughtfully retained a slight Scottish burr and a few pungent Scotticisms to add just the right touch of ethnic flavor to their speech.

I'm too tired to do the research, but I do believe that I heard that atleast one if not both of the actors in Boondock Saints are indeed Irish. I made the same comment that you did about their accents (Guinness induced comment), and a coworker jumped on me about one or both being Irish. Sean Connery as a Russian was just horrible!

Haha, they most definitely NOT Irish. I think they both have Irish ancestry (Sean Patrick Flanery does for sure). Just google it and you can get both of their bios.
