    Rob Roy: The Movie

The movie, Rob Roy with Liam Neeson is a favorite of many of us on this forum. Yesterday, I was watching it with an eye towards the Féileadh Mòr (belted plaids) the Highlanders wore. You could see a few different ways of wearing it. The men slept in, loved in it and died in it.

However, at the end when Rob dueled the evil Archibald, before the fight Rob removed the top of plaid to be shown wearing a fèileadh beag. Now the fèileadh beag, I believe would have been around then, but I think this ‘poetic’ license is confusing. The film up to this point, had quite a bit of historic accuracy. I think it would have been best to have him droped the entire Féileadh Mòr, and dueled only in his leine. Or to only worn his jacket with the fèileadh beag. Any thoughts?

You can watch it for free at Hulu.com. Enjoy!

The feilidh-beag was often worn with a seperate shoulder plaid, so there really is nothing historically innacurate at all about it. The accuracy of the Highland clothing in that movie is one reason why I really enjoy it!

I've been wanting to see this movie again for awhile. Now I can without leaving the house to get it.

It was a good movie, I do not know how historical it was other than the names of the characters.....
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
