It's like discovering a whole new world of kilting...
I got my StillWater standard model kilt yesterday (ordered on Friday), and got a chance to remove the stitches and try it on properly today. I had ordered a thrifty from them before, and was satisfied with it, although I felt as though its value would have been greatly increased if the pleats were sewn down. There is a WORLD of difference between their thrifty and standard models, though.
Good lord, it's BEAUTIFUL! This is my first "8 yard" kilt, and it (with all due respect to SportKilt) blows my other kilts out of the water. Pleated to the sett, lined, with three buckles... it's awesome. If every step up the kilting chain is this drastic, I think I have a bright future ahead of me in pleasant surprises.
Thanks a TON to Jerry, who replied to an issue with my order within an hour of my initial e-mail. The kilt got to me in record time considering it was ordered on a Friday.
If you're thinking of getting a Stillwater Standard kilt and are on the fence about it, GO FOR IT. It's great, and an incredible value for the price. There are more in my future, no doubt about it.
It's so nice, in fact, that I'm afraid I WON'T be wearing it in the ring. So SWK thriftys and Sportkilts will still be the Celtic Crippler's in-ring apparel of choice for now.
