Add a hearing aid and two tooth flippers to that and you have Hector. Here is a photo of him not being able to hide after eating the Easter Peeps AND my hand decorated blown Easter eggs I got in Russia. He now automatically puts himself in dog jail. Don't tell me dogs don't know right from wrong.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Dogs DON'T know right from wrong (unless you teach them) but they DO know when you are angry with them and that the next step is "jail" (by the way, great poem-you're giving Panache a run for his money).
If you're not already tired of training advice, check out siriuspup.com and order a book called How to Teach A New Dog Old Tricks. Not only is it very helpful, it's also funny.
Be well,

Hector knows the minute he acts out, and when we get home, he has already sent himself to jail. He doesn't wait to determine if we are upset or not. If he is missing from the front door when we walk in, we start looking for the damage and find the dog already in jail.

I guess I was blessed with Mog, my Rottweiler-German Shepherd-Pit Bull Beagle mix - the closest he ever got to doing something "bad" was having an upset stomach on the carpet. He would usually try to get to the kitchen door and outside, but didn't always reach the linoleum. Then he would disappear inside the house (you wouldn't think that a 100 pound dog could hide so well).
And then there was York, my work dog, who once did an entire vehicle search while hiding a turkey tail in his mouth ... and yes, he's a lab.

My Lab stopped all the chewing at 4 years. After that you couldn't have asked for a better dog.
