Anyone who has ever had, and loved, a dog feels your pain. They ask nothing of you and give you everything. Hang in there and remember the good times.

They do leave pawprints on your heart. Keep the good memories and know that you gave the best life they could have enjoyed. It's tough to know, every time you get a puppy/kitten/whatever, that odds are you will end up going through this experience -- but the times between make it all worthwhile.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so painful to have a beloved pet pass on. You are in our thoughts.

I feel for you having had similar news a couple of weeks ago about my mother's dog, Bekka, while I was staying at Ferintosh.

You have my sympathy and thoughts are with you.
It hurts as much to lose a "fur baby" as it does a person.

As Diane said, you're in our thoughts. One of our cats died a few months back and we had to leave our dog (Albeit with a wonderful family) in Scotland.
Those companions mean so much and it is terrible to lose them.
Might I suggest you read this last will and testament of a very good dog?
It really is a wonderful comfort.

Thanks for sharing that Arlen, though I must confess it brought tears to my eyes.
