My business day sporran is a former Army lower ranks brown leather one with NO tassles. I don't think we'll cary on with this line of reasoning. (Voice rises).

Late on this topic, but to chime in...my semi-formal DIY sporran has two horse-hair tassels. I've gotten all sorts of compliments on it, including from "traditionalist" Scots folks.
