    My guess is that this is one time when the kilt outfit could well be upstaged by the lady's hats!

    Morning Coats

    I think (and I could be wrong) that the only race in North America where morning dress is worn is the Queen's Plate at Woodbine Racecourse in Toronto. The last time I was there was in the late 1980's, and a number of gentlemen (myself included) wore morning dress. A top hat too. Col. E.P. Taylor, the noted horseman, and former president of the Ontario Jockey Club, was always impeccibly turned out. I wish I could say that about the Lieutenant Governors who attended...for some odd reason they always wore decorations! HM The Queen of Canada and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh never wear decorations to the races!

    I thought for a moment there I was having a long senior moment. I just couldn't get by the "mourning" part. Your not the only one who is getting old.
