While the robbery is chilling for sure, I'm in admiration of your own resolve to figure out your ancestry and to honor it and to share the pride with your family. The healing with your father is most touching.
And...can't help it, my daily immersion in the criminal justice system has me wondering if they ever caught the bad guy....?

Wow, what a story !!! Expecting the delivery and instead being faced with a gunman... that's the scariest FIRST KILT story. Glad it all turned out OK.

First of all, thanks for reading and the support! I am always amazed at the friendship and family I have here, without meeting 99.99999999% of you in person!

To answer your question, yes they did. He went on to rob two other places, another bank the same day and a pharmacy three weeks later. He was caught during the last robbery. He received 23 years for the pharmacy, 20 years for ours and is still waiting for court on the other bank. These are plea bargains for the firearm charges only, meaning no early parole or release. Yeah!!
As for the heritage, it is a major part of my life. On my mother's side of the family I am Chiricahua Apache. I have been acitvely dancing in Pow-wows for 6 years or so now. I think that many Americans have lost touch with their family history and traditions. It is an important part of our lives and should be celebrated at every opportunity!
