I guess I will be the sole voice of dissent, or at least partial dissent for the Order of the Gael kilt carrier set. I like the bag, particularly becasue it is relatively bulletproof and they have special places for all your accessories, but I can do that in a quality regular garment bag. I am less fond of their multipurpose hangers than others here on the forum and personally find them hard to use to hang a kilt, not wide enough for most of my 45" waisted kilts (the ends hang off and droop stretching the tartan), not quite big enough for my jackets (52XL), and unfortunately stricken with a design flaw that leaves a weak spot in the middle of the wooden shoulders of the hangers have a critical cluster of cuts, joints and dowling, which has failed on two of my hangers already (even before travelling with it) requiring them both to be replaced by the vendor (which they did happily). I did glue both broken ones back together and strengthened them a bit with some additional supports and use them to hold regular jackets, but am not sure I trust the still good ones to make it through any significant plane travel, especially because of the soft sided bag, although car travel would probably be fine. I use it mostly to keep stuff hung in orderly fashion in closet storage. But I have ordered several of Scotweb's kilt hangers to use to carry my kilts most of the time as in my mind they hold my kilts straighter and stronger with less difficulty loading them onto the clips. And I have a nice sturdy large capacity Samsonite garment bag that accomodates the Scotweb hangers easily, and which is far more protective of all its contents than the OotG softside hanging bag.
Just one man's opinion.

Haven't paid much attention to the bags for the same reason, no need. On the other hand I do like the hangers. There are some shortcomings as FM noted, but I find them much better than any other kilt hanger arrangement I've found or read about.
A bit of fuss to get them hooked up, and I wish there was an additional center clip for the center of the pleats ((I've improvised) but over all better than the options.
I hang my hand sewns from their hangers and cover them with a garment bag from WalMarche'.
Workin' for me - your milage may vary.

Packing up...
Well, I've been playing with the Kilt Kit today, getting ready for a little trip to a Sci Fi convention in the morning. I'll be dressed very casual most of the time of course, but there are a couple of more 'dressy' events I'm involved in, plus some hall costume stuff, so I'm taking a couple jackets and vests 2 pair of shoes, 3 sporrans, a bunch of hose, etc....a lot of gear for a 3 day event!
I can see the point ForresterModern made about the hangers maybe not being wide enough to work right with (shall we say) 'larger' sizes, but I can report that my 43" waist kilts and size 46 jackets hang on them just fine. As far as the strength of the hangers, time will tell, but the seem pretty durable to me, and I'm good at wreckin' stuff! Maybe they are updated. I am really liking the hangers, I'm going to get some extra ones to hang all my kilts.
Since I don't like to have multible bags if I can avoid it, (I have a pretty small car) In the past when I would travel with kilts etc. I would roll the kilts and then fold up all the rest of my kit, brouges, jackets, shirts, leathers, and all into one big *ss suitcase. The size of the case had to be at least 25 inches on one side, dictated by the length of the rolled kilts. Whenever I would get where I was going, I would unpack everything, likely touch up some stuff with the room steamiron, and then rehang it all in the room. So far I think that by hanging everything the Kilt Kit is going to allow me to save space and time by carrying the same stuff in less space and hopefully getting it there in better shape. So far I remain impressed by the product.
I'll post an update, and photo's from the con, next week...

Well, I survived the weekend at the Sci-Fi Con, (photo's here; http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/k...580/index.html )
and the Kilt Kit worked as advertised, I carried 3 kilts, my formal Spencer jacket and vest, an Argyll jacket, 3 dress shirts, ties, a belt, two sporrans, and a few pair of hose and flashes in the bag, and it all got there in good shape, and organized. I had a couple pre-planned outfits for the weekend, and each got it's own hanger so it was all together and ready to put on. After tranfering the hangers in the hotel closet, I hung the bag up in there too, and just used it to store all the accessories, very handy! I did employ an extra duffle to carry some shoes, toliet kit and casual shirts, etc.. but it was a small one. Overall I was very happy with the Kilt Kit system, about the only expectation it failed me on was that it, along with the duffle, didn't really use any less room in my little car than my usual big suitcase, but the fact that my kit was better organized and arrived in ready to wear condition outweighs that little gripe!
