remember Ron, one does not have to run that fast while running from a bear... all you have to do, is run faster than the other guy....LOL

Last hike photo'd a few lizards, a bat, a spider. Hurray! I successfully posted first pic

You could hear this critter when it was running on the backpack. Both pics of same spider.

That's not something you want running up your kilt!

Love the pics!, Keep 'em coming. C.H. that's a fantastic bat photo. We've scads of bats out here too but never thought of trying to catch them in flight with a flash like that. Thanks for the idea...gonna give it a shot up the street where they cluster around to get the insects drawn to the street lights next to the open desert.

I see quite a lot of wildlife during my hikes in the south of Scotland, foxes, deer, wild goats, stoats and weasels, rabbits, field mice, hedgehogs, very occasionally badgers and otters, buzzards, kites, herons, owls.
Not seen any eagles though.

I have encountered some deer, ducks, rabbits, and one overly excited pitbull with a very cold nose. The last one I would not really call wild. Very excited and overly energetic, yes.

Deer (whitetail), turkey, squirrels (Eastern Gray, Red, Fox), chipmunks, woodchucks, muskrats, hare (eastern cottontail), mink, ducks, various snakes, a couple of waitresses, voles, semi-domesticated cats, various songbirds, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks ... hmm, does last Sunday's trip to the Georgia Aquarium count?

A great thread idea; however, I can't help but recall the Warner Bros. cartoon in which Bugs' is reading the 'Diet' entry for the Tazmanian Devil!
