Lesse... this being Akron, Ohio -- once the Rubber Capital of the world -- I'd need ...
No, I can't bring myself to wear a rubber kilt. Can't do it.
Though with the Good Year blimp being stationed here, I think a blimp would make a really cool (and quite effective) kilt pin.
And a tire would make a good broach for a fly plaid.
My neighbors up north could use an electric guitar for the Rock and Roll hall of fame, while those a short way to the south could use a little silver football for similar reasons.

As a proud New Yorker I wear a Civil War buckle marked SNY for State of New York but perhaps better known to our Southern Cousins as the "Snotty Nose Yankees" Buckle.
By Choice, not by Birth

Well played!
Although all of my family were Confederate, we are now all brothers (and sisters) united together.

My bad.
Why didn't I just that earlier? *facepalm*
My reply was along the lines of Trefor's.
While animal skins aren't textiles, incorporating/substituting native fauna for those found in Scotland seemed to fit your original post - your use of scrub jay feathers, for example.

I've always wanted the Menzies Dress tartan (UW Football colors) and a badger sporran (UW mascot). Imagine playing "On, Wisconsin!" on the pipes before a football game wearing that!
