I'm with Jock & Acaig. I never wear ghillie brogues. No objection to them on other folks but not for me... ever.

I have a pair of ghillie brogues - I've worn them once only. Although I have black and brown brogues and black and brown Oxfords, it is the black Oxfords that I wear most. Either those or a pair of black boots. I can't remember the last time I wore a pair of trainers.

    Regards

    Chas

I do not care for Ghillie Brogues, just not my cuppa tea. I prefer the look of a brogue/wingtip or an oxford, though a buckle brogue looks nice, but not the Mary Janes.

Of the pictures posted at the Highland Games or The Clan Chiefs... very few, if any wear ghillie brogues..

Agree. I like ghillie brogues, will defend them, but I don't wear them. I prefer wingtips.

I wear a plain black leather shoes with a small buckle. They're made my Lloyd in Germany, the "1888" collection.

Ghillie brogues in both black and brown (shined of course, Jock), worn with anything dressy enough to warrant any kind of kilt jacket or better, and sometimes with sweaters (jumpers) too. My other dress shoes just don't look right, but then i don't have a whole lot of dress shoes anyway, mostly casuals.

I've always liked the look of gillie brogues worn properly, so I wear them, usually with my black argyle and PC. Also, I need them for piping. I wear lots of other shoes as well, though.

I have a pair of black and brown ghillie brogues and wear them sparingly... At work, with a jacket and vest, I usually wear a pair of dress shoes... however, I will wear the ghillies when I'm working a theatre event... everything about the evening is more "theatrical" and they seem to fit the scene... certain type of dressier events here in Savannah, people tend to take things a bit over the top and in those settings I'll usually wear the ghillies, although for the most formal events I'd far prefer buckle brogues of some type, just don't have any yet.
