It must be a sign of the 21st Century if jackets, kilts and now even socks have lining.

Runner's sox which are quite low and ideally made of cool-max work great, also. Mine do not come very far up on the ankle.

Okay, so awhile back in a thread about cheap kilt belts, "Big Girl" belts were suggested and no one voiced any problems with this....
So maybe some of you lads out to follow mine and unaspencer's lead and get a pair of nude coloured knee high nylons to wear under your kilt hose, particularly the thin ones in which those manly-labeled sock liners show through.
I won't tell anyone.

If I'm wearing kilt hose and going to be on my feet all day, I ALWAYS adhere to what I learned in the military about socks...

This really makes a lot of sense. I'm suprised I never thought of this as I wear liner under my wool hiking socks any time I go hiking without reguard to the temperature. My feet stay drier and I seem to take fewer breaks.

I use a nylon liner with my kilt hose, and I do the same all winter with my work socks the liner keeps the sweat away from your feet and it helps when your in the cold all day. ith:

I like Chelsea's idea here with one minor problem. Where I have looked(Target and Walmart) it is tough to find a "shorty" flesh tone nylon pair of hose in man size 14 foot that aren't too tight in the toes. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed. I have actually, after suregery, worn medical hose of full length, but alas they were white not flesh tone.

Quite frequently, I do wear *gasp* trouser socks (or sheer nylon knee-highs) underneath my kilt hose. It does help keep the kilt hose from getting too yucky, and prevent the itchies, especially with the charcoal piper's hose, which seem to be of a rougher weave than the other colors.
Might want to try Sock Dreams out of Portland. http://www.sockdreams.com Either that, or find a Nordstrom store and find some in the hosiery section, in the plus size (for bigger feet). If you don't feel like going in there yourself, just send your wife (or girlfriend) in.
