    I plan to Jock mine severely! My old military balmoral had a great well-worn look and shape, including at least one nicely executed, almost invisible repair. Some squaddie was quite the hand with a needle and thread...!

    Didn't someone say the recommended break-in method for a Workman's model Utilikilt was to throw it in the cement mixer with some gravel slurry? I wouldn't do it with my bunnet, but the image is priceless.

    OK, here's the House of Labhran balmoral referenced in my initial post, after an "abbreviated Jocking" - meaning I only gave it one thorough soaking before shaping it and wearing it dry:
