Anyone who says that the World Cup is above politics is crazy, BUT I can't help but like North Korea. The showed some serious heart against the best in the world today. IMO, the most exciting game of the tourney so far. My number two vote goes to Germany vs Australia.
I felt like Germany was the first team in the cup that actually went out there to win the game, rather than just trying not to lose. They murdered the first two, smelt blood in the water, and went for the throat. The Brazilians may be beautiful, but Germany's cold efficiency is deadly.
Was disappointed by the Netherlands showing against Denmark. The score looked better than the Dutch played.

/somewhat on topic (and with no spoilers this time!)
Has anyone heard that a large US department store chain was selling World Cup-style t-shirts and that they inadvertently used a Franco-era flag on the Spanish shirt (which would be considered offensive to many Spaniards)?
I'm not putting the store's name in here because I haven't found the story from any mainstream/reputable sources and I don't want to propagate a false story if it's not true.

I'd have to kick the ball before I'd say it was juiced.
But, perhaps the ball was juiced!:butt:
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Brazil won the game, wasn't an easy victory but we do hope to improve during the championship. Brazilians demand so much from their team that the feeling around is of defeat. It's what the players call "the weight of the Brazilian yellow shirt". Let's see who will get to the finals, I would like to see USA and England coming out of their groups to the finals !
Any guesses ?

Wow! What a crazy match between Switzerland and the tourney favourites: Spain!
Spoiler content: Switzerland did the unthinkable! Even if Spain wins in the end, Switzerland will always have the satisfaction of being able to say: "HA! But we beat you!"

It's my best friend's birthday on Monday, so we're celebrating by going out to the local watering hole on Saturday night to watch Netherlands play Japan live, shortly followed by Australia playing Ghana.
For a b-day present, I got him a Jabulani ball and a vuvuzela! (He eats, drinks, breathes and bleeds soccer so I know it's a good gift)... He also teaches little Japanese kiddies so it'll go a LONG ways to help him do some lessons about South Africa and the World Cup.
