Thanks guys. After reading this I've found a couple of nice ones on ebay that I may bid for. I like the Dalvy ones I saw.
I agree the flask should be emptied during the day (preferably more than once they are not that big).
The Nalgene ones are interesting. Did you get one of those CDNSushi?

One was given to me for my birthday. I love it! No off-taste and you can keep your hooch in it for more than a day. My best friend bought it for me after a conversation regarding taking beverages on long flights, and this was shortly after they enacted the liquids ban.
I simply put it into my back pocket of my suit pants, and sailed through security and metal detectors without a hitch. Nowadays with the new strip-you-naked-and-give-you-cancer scanners it probably wouldn't work so well... Still, it's a nice flask and the outside cover can be separated and used as an extra container and cup... Also there's an outer and inner cap. The outer cap doubles as a 1 oz. jigger.

My flask is a leather-covered stainless steel kidney shaped flask from Filson's in Seattle. Filson is the "American Barbour" & was popular among the miners in the Klondike. Their motto is: "might as well have the best!"
The "care & feeding" instructions strongly suggest not leaving your beverage in the flask overnight.

The flask that I carry, when I carry a flask, is a nice porcelin one that was originally filled with "Pussers Rum". You can still find these on Ebay. They have all kinds of Royal Navy trivia on the outside.

0oh, I vote for anything Filsoms....Good stuff
Other than that, it is always polite to offer a lady (Who feels the heat more than you do)
anything from a flask. We will check it out for you.

What a convenient arrangement, Man, ladies have all the luck!
When it's a formal do and hot out, women can get away with no sleeves and an open neckline (even no back). In winter women can be dressed from neck to heel, even in fur. What do men ALWAYS get... suit coat and (if we're lucky) a kilt.
AND you get polite pulls from many a flask????
WHO thought up this arrangement anyway? JK
You've got those bloody heels to wear...

Mine is just like this, though this is a marketing photo from Burnett's & Struth and not my actual flask. http://www.burnetts-struth.com/index.php?cPath=37, if you're shopping.

I agree with most of the above recommendations. SS over pewter. The round model Zardoz showed is a very good choice as you need not fill up your sporran with your flask.
I find it adviseable to carry several flasks. Wearing a jacket aids in this endeavor as you have more pockets for important things like . . . well, more flasks!
I have a very small round flask that fits neatly in to a sporran or shirt pocket for a quick, one-off pull as times progress. Doesn't hold much, but it's more than I drink at one sip. Then I have a neat little rectangular flask with all rounded edges that came with a bottle of Bowmore, I think. It, too, fits neatly into a sporran or pocket with gouging you. I also carry a standard hip flask (or two) with attached cap that will go into almost any pocket (or into the waist band, etc.) which holds a little more. I find that I can easily carry about a half bottle of good single malt in my flasks if I am creative, and I also find that the boon companions with whom I am likely to spend time find it quite a good thing.
A fellow like me needs all the help he can have in being popular.
