Smashing! I have to agree with the others that the neck has a very interesting cut! Kinda makes me want one for myself..

    a) shots of the back of the waistcoat
    b) shot of waistcoat and kilt together!

Good looking and versatile - I think it would also work with a jabot very well.

Your alignment of the tartan is superb. Very nice.

Did someone say something about a pattern?

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to the requests. The pattern is a McCalls 9136. It was a pattern a former seamstress friend of my family gave me. She used to use the pattern for weddings. It has two options, one with the high "V" and another with a low cut and lapels. My wife and I both liked the high cut better.

The back of the vest is simply black satin, with a finishing belt. Not much to photograph.

I hadn't really taken shots with the kilt because it is more meant for conventional use, and I believe is too long to use with a kilt. (though I think it may be a little short, so who knows) I also have been unable to save enough shekels to speak to Thorfinn about a sporran, and so am sheepish about photos in more dressy kit :-S

Beautiful job! Perfect for those times when a kilt isn't quite right, but you'd like to have your tartan seen. Commendable!
Only 9 notes. How hard could it be?

Well done laddie! As you mention it could be a tad short for the kilt, although you will probably get away with it(avoid the dreaded gap phenomenon)with a traditionally "cut" kilt.
