Also having a partner (husband rather than wife) who has a Turkish (Cypriot) background we were wondering how your kilt was commented upon in Turkey? We met at Harpenden Games if you remember.

I have always wanted to visit Turkey... came close back in 1983.. but the situation in Beirut changed and they cancelled all R&R. Life as a Marine...one day, I may get to go.
The heat is eveywhere, I work in the natural gas industry, building compressor stations, and this year has been extremely hot.. last few weeks we have seen 120f with the heat index, hot weather to work in.

I do remember.
The Turks seem pretty cool about kilts (on the whole). Mainly puzzled I think when confronted with one up close. I would think the majority have never seen one before other than pictures but the snippets of overheard conversations when out and about indicated an awareness of it's Scottish connection so it seems they know what it is. And although all the Blokes in the family were very polite about it, there were no takers when I offered to let them try it on. Although to be honest, I had figured there probably wouldn't be.

Going back to a previous thread, your wife wearing that Australian Tartan now makes a lot of sense. Please thank her for doing so.
Thanks. I will.

I like English whiteness but prefer it not in a melted puddle
Ok, now that I have pulled myself together...it took this long...
Nerr-nerr-nee-nerr-ner! No I haven't! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Phew! Looks like melted wax!
Love seeing the big man sweat, have to give him very high marks for the determination! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! He looks the same in all garments...wonderful and roasting!
Poor Bloke, there was no circulating air with heat, humidity and concrete!
What?! Was he suppose to wear the kilt whilst swimming? The wet t-shirt was hot but will pass on wet kilt...Are there tartan speedos!?
