    just a bit of a update i did check out Celtic Isles in Westford, MA and they were really great, tried on some kilts and jackets and the owner was very helpful with all my questions. unfortunately i could not rent a MacPherson, which i wasn't too surprised about really. although it was a big help in figuring out a lot about kilts and what to look for and so on. and i will most likely be going through them for renting, how ever i am still looking to buy my own clan tartan so now i am looking around for who has the best prices and so forth. We will most likely be going with a standard black watch and prince charlie for the grooms man and hopefully i can find mine at a decent price.

    and another question, is there any major difference between the different lengths of the kilts? is it more/less pleats?.

    thanks for all the help!

    Yes. The number of pleats depends on many factors but a 8 yard kilt will have more than a 5 yard casual. I am speaking about knife pleats btw

    You may want to look at USA kilt here is a link to a inexpensive kilt that is well made and will still be appropriate for your wedding. http://www.usakilts.com/store/semitrad_kiltpage.php

    Or Skye Highland Outfitters has a 8 yard PV kilt here http://www.skyehighlandoutfitters.co...Kilt_Page.html

    Look at the advertisers on this site and choose. I would say try to get a 8 yard kilt so that your kilt doesn't look like a lower quality compared to you groomsmen.

    Length of kilt or amount of material used?

    The length is how far down your keg it hangs. The amount of material it's made from helps to decide how heavy it is and how many pleats there are.

    Eg a tank will have about 8 yards and a casual kilt will have around 5 yards of material
    The hielan' man he wears the kilt, even when it's snowin';
    He kens na where the wind comes frae,
    But he kens fine where its goin'.

    Huh.... I had no idea Celtic Isles even existed, and they're right down the road! I'll definitely have to check them out sometime myself.

    I guess they need a new advertising plan. I had no idea either.
