We have 4 dogs of our own - two German Shepherds, a Border Collie mix, and a Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix - plus two "permanent resident aliens" - another German Shepherd and another Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix - along with a foster Chihuahua and a foster cat. My wife is on the board of an organization which takes dogs from rural animal shelters (where they are sure to be put down) and organizations transports to rescue groups in larger, metropolitan areas, mostly up north and in the northeast, where there is less of a dog overpopulation problem. We used to foster more animals here, but with a new baby (one year old) and some hangers-on, we have neither the room nor the time.

Hi, John. Wow. Someone I actually know know (not that I don't "know" some of my Internet friends ... you know what I mean).

Welcome from another Kentuckian from just up the pike in Louisville!
I too have a little history with rescue dogs, two greyhounds and one shelter mutt pup. Some of the best dogs I have ever owned/enjoyed sharing my life with.
