I just found a pair of boys Mexican gaucho pants of some sort at the Goodwill. They have silver double buttons down the sides of each leg, for a total of 28 sets of buttons! They have horses and horseshoes connected by silver chains. Very ornate and the cost was just $6.99 for all those buttons! Not sure yet if they will go on the Prince Charlie jacket, but thanks again for freeing my creative spirit to think outside of the box.

Since my kilt is in the Carolina tartan - and the kilt as we know it is a Victorian era garment - I went with Victorian era, North Carolina-themed buttons. I replaced all the buttons on my Argyle jacket and vest with these reproductions of the North Carolina state seal buttons worn by Tar Heel troops in the Civil War.

www.thebottonshoppe.com has lots of different styles. I have dogwood buttons on a jacket and vest that I wear. There's no rule declaring that civilians have to have square buttons on a PC.
