Me too. These ones are on a c1930s jacket. I've lost one on the waistcoat and would love to replace it but think that that'll be a non-starter.

    au contraire, Figheadair

I think you can find a button like those. I converted a Swedish uniform tunic about 10 years ago and added some very similar leather buttons. Chances are, you will have to pay attention to avoid plastic, but our favorite internet auction site reveals a wide array of "leather buttons". Unfortunately, nobody but me calls them "leather knot buttons" so you will have to cull and comb a lot.

To derail my own thread, I got a Sportsman's Guide catalogue today and found this jacket listed again: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c....aspx?a=759130 . I have one that I strongly suspect is the same jacket. It's lightweight and has a fly front, meaning no buttons at all showing. Its simple construction ( no lining) makes it easier to modify, should you want a different cuff style. Sorry, no XL offered.

I also have a number of tweed jackets with those same buttons. Some years ago I manged to find some, as replacemtens in a old time haberdashery shop. I know these shops are few and far between these days but there must be some still around. Another source I see all the time are OP shops (thrift shops) which have tweed jackets(with those type buttons) and the whole jacket only costs $5-10

Link for all the leather (and many other type) buttons you could want:

Thrift store buttons might have that "patina," though.
