Let's not forget that he is a singing "God" in Germany too.
Does that help put things in perspective?

Relevant or not, I went to the same high school as da' Hoff
Does this make me cheesy by association? ;)

Umm.
Who's "The Hoff"?
Can't say I've ever heard of him.
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

Alex,
He is an American television actor named David Hasselhoff who has taken on the moniker "The Hoff" ("Don't Hassle the Hoff"). Lately, he is making increasingly pathetic attempts to stay in the spotlight.

I feel compelled to come to the defense of The Hoff. I think he only started promoting the moniker "The Hoff" following his brilliant appearance in "The Spongebob Movie". I take his use of the nickname, and indeed his whole presentation, as very much self-mockery, and more than tongue in cheek. His self deprecation and self mockery are actually quite appealing. He is actually quite open about being a Hollywood moron, and plays that up to a fare thee well. I find it an entertaining act, in very, very small doses. His stint with "Ireland", the "skirt" and the speedos may have been part of his self mocking shtick, but that could be hard to call without viewing the footage...

Apparently wee Jeannie was down at the SECC in Glasgow where the 'Hoff' was appearing. Wee Jeannie was there with her friend Ella.
Ella said to wee Jeannie after the 'Hoff' had lifted up his kilt - 'Did you see anything'. Wee Jeannie replied' Naw, I managed to look away just in time'

Well to be fair we saw Hasselhoff in the lead role in Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts here in Washington DC and he was incredible. I was rather dumbfounded at how good he was.
