Great story. I'm glad I havent had too many crazy kilt experiances yet. I've only been asked the question once and it was the first day I ever wore a kilt. A lady about the age of 70 asked, I didnt know how to respond, it embaressed the heck out of me. 70!
    Somebody ought to.

Another tongue in cheek answer would be to ask him if he'd like to check for himself whether you're regimental or not.

Most memerable for me was at a co-workers retirement party. I had 3 or 4 women make passes, including her. One actually asked me, while her SO had his arm around her, if she could pet my badger sporran. All I could do was admit that I left it at home.

My weirdest experience was Burns night this year - getting a kilt check (got my "cheeky side" pinched) from a well-marinated 60-70-something lady, while her trousered husband stood there and exclaimed "Now you know why I didn't wear mine!" I figured she earned that pinch, she came around with airplane bottles of Glenlivet and gave me two to fill up my flask after I had emptied it.

When it's a guy who asks, a very straight face with "Why bless your heart,
that is so sweet, and I am so very flattered, but as it happens, I like girls.
I'll be happy to introduce you to some theater friends of mine who'd love to
indulge you in all the kilt checks you can handle" will produce entertaining
    responses.

My "Little Boy" is about an inch taller than I and is currently on active duty. Hmmm. I guess I'll have to 411 for toddler rentals when the Missus takes a bit of Holiday on her own...

I got one in beaver last year, partly 'cause it's beautiful but largely so I could place "quid pro quo" conditions on fulfilment of such requests.
