Wow, the wealth of knowledge and breadth of experience on this forum continues to amaze me. Although I have owned and worn kilts for most of my 50+ years I had no idea that all these options exist. I think I need to take a deep breath and relax a bit or I will end up with a jammed closet and empty bank account!

Unfortunately kilt with the great deal on Ebay looks like it would be a bit big for me.

If you are looking to get simple and inexpensive casual kilts for a number of people in a variety of sized (all 24" length), all in Thomson Camel PV, there is a vendor on ebay selling them for 19.99gbp (about $32 US) with an exorbitant additional 25gbp for shipping (another $40US give or take). But I bet if you order several at one time he would cut you a deal on combined shipping. I do not know this vendor nor can I vouch for quality of goods or service provide. Simply providing info about what may meet your needs and budget.

The keyword here is "decent" for which everyone's definition may vary somewhat.

I got my Camel Thomson from Scotweb (an XMTS sponsor, and as members we get a bit of a discount). I'm quite happy with it, but the price is £168. I know of the cheap acrylic ones on eBay but after much deliberation, opted for a higher quality, albeit lighter fabric, 100% wool kilt instead. Having had all three: PV, acrylic, and wool, I think I'm pretty much done with acrylic. PV is a decent substitute for wool, but I like the feel and wear of acrylic the least of the three by far. I think I would rather pay a wee bit more and get wool... But hey, different horses for different courses, right?

One thing to also be mindful of, is that there are at LEAST 2 different "Camel Thomson" setts... They have similar names but the sett is different. Here is mine. The other design, much like the Burberry Check, has the red stripe in the middle of the beige field.

    Thanks CDN...

I am aware of the two different setts. The one I am looking for is what many call the "modern" which, as you described has the red stripe in the middle of the beige field.

Many of the members I am trying to outfit have little-to-no kilt experience. I dont think any will mind Acrylic as these will only come out when doing events such as charity functions and Sci-Fi conventions and things of that sort.

If I can find some good PV kilts between $150-200, that might also be an option. Most of them know that good kilts are not Cheap. Jhiggins has some nice PV kilts at a good price, plus i have some other leads.

Thank you everyone for their input, and I will keep the boards posted on the matter.
