The first time I read it I thought the "feints" made it clear. Then I read it again . . .

I'm still a bit confused...

Was he writing about the Girlfriend? Or the Whisky?
Perhaps he was writing about the Girlfriend while drinking the Whisky?
Maybe the Girlfriend was distracting him as he wrote about the Whisky?
And there is no way I'm going to start in with the Horse and the Man!
