Glad to hear the news and I hope they arrive very soon. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! And as we all know, your wedding will never take place unless we see pics on here! We really have to see the Montrose doublets that you will be wearing for your wedding. Best wishes and congratulations to you and your future bride.

I have a Montrose Doublet (with jabot and cuffs) hanging in my closet that I have yet to wear. Would fit someone 6', 170 lbs or therabouts. I purchased it from someone in Ontario via an on-line ad but until I have a proper kilt (now on order ) I won't be wearing it. Would be happy to lend it if it would be of help.

And this is precisely why I love being a member of this forum...selfless, thoughtful, kind, and generous people like this lad here. Well done!
Cheers,

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! I accidentally deleted my OP this morning trying to edit something with my smart phone. I've retyped it and included the updated info so everyone doesn't have to scroll through the thread to read it.

Tact is one of my strong suits. While I can go crazy veteran on people if need be, the same experiences that taught me how to do that also taught me the importance of being approachable and not burning bridges that don't need it.
And you were right, it was all in hand. The friendly gentleman is making sure of that, and now it's on the owner's radar as well... so things should end up being fine. Maybe they could just tell that other lady to stay away from the phone altogether.
You know sometimes the best laid plans do go wrong and however frustrating, expensive, disappointing all that may be and there may well be nothing you can do other than make the best of a bad job. People really do show their very best side in adversity, particularly if its not your fault and if all else fails, I am sure your family and friends will pull together to make your special day even better, no matter what. If it comes to that, they will, they really will make the best of it, you will see! All the very best of luck laddie.
Well, I was prepared to head down to Denver and rent some Prince Charlies if I absolutely had to. Wearing the doublets unaltered would have been an option on the table as well, except I'd have to find some Jabots to wear with them.
I agree with everything you've said here, and actually my bride and I have planned this thing such that it'll be a big fun day regardless of what we're wearing. Actually, almost no one in attendance will even be able to recognize, much less appreciate what we've done with the doublets, so that detail was almost just for us, as we like to lean toward the eccentric side of things. The rest of it, we've let everyone know that the only expectations we have of them is to show up, look awesome, and have a good time. After the formal part is over, the open bar will start serving, and it'll just be a big party into the night.

This would also save you the time of having things fitted/altered after you receive stock garments.
You might spend a fair bit of cash, but if you're getting your original money back from the credit card people, and figuring in the custom fitting of the stock pieces as well, it might work out to a wash, or even to your benefit.
Good luck, and keep us posted!

That was an excellent suggestion. I never would have thought to check with people in that field. It might have been a good solution too, as there are more than one prominent theaters out here, and some of the costumes are out of this world.

I do this as well... I just didn't want to name names at the time of the posting is all. I remember faces forever, but names are gone as quickly as they've arrived.

Rest assured, over the long haul, the rabble has helped me put this together in more ways than one, so there'll be pictures. I'm hoping to get a bit of video as well.
Thanks for the well wishes.

Sir, I cannot tell you how much this post means. That doublet would have fit my groomsman, as my best man and I are slightly shorter and weigh in around 200lbs... but 1/3 down would have taken a huge load off.
You have proven again that quality people roam this board quite regularly.

Cheers,
Agreed. The interesting thing about this board is everyone is willing to help. On other forums I frequent, you usually see this sort of thing out of the "regulars" or the moderators, but in general, one fairly new member stepping forward to help a little known and low post member such as myself is exceedingly rare. This is the one forum I know of where you truly get that sense of community, even if most of us have never met in person.

may have something...
TH,
JUST IN CASE, why don't you post your size requirements and any flexibility you may be able to squeeze out- color, sleeve length, whatever. Then, those of us who may have something in the closet may be better prepared to shoot something out at the last minute...
I have a bottle green Montrose in lightweight(ish) wool barathea. I think it is a 40 or 41. Will that help?
