Website problems?

If there is a problem with the forum our hosting or anything else I usually get about a hundred emails from members in just the first day.
I have had no notices of anyone else having problems other than when trying to log on after being away from the site for over a year. This is an internal permissions setting of the forum and not a problem.

A possible reason for the problem you describe is the cookie and other settings that you have on your browser. Some browsers are real touchy about sites that have as many photos as X Marks. Other browsers don't like the vBulletin format cookies.


What browser are you using to access X Marks?

I'll periodically have issues with the site loading, but it's usually when I'm accessing it in the wee hours where I am (2 or 3 AM Eastern US). That's typically when either hosting services or broadband providers will do their server updates, taking down their faster boxes to perfom maintenance, etc.). (Who's up at three AM EST, anyway?? Well, I am, but that's 'cause I work odd hours now.) It's also typically when a lot of places do their bulk data transfers and backups, which can take up a lot of bandwidth as well.

FWIW, I'm using AT&T (non-cable) for broadband.

thanks for all your replies. The issue has resolved itself, so I guess it was some sort of provider issue rather than a problem with the site. The bonus is that I know alot more about how the internet works now,
