Trefor
its Virgin media, I dont have any problems with any other website just this one. I keep getting website unavailable message. I then have to close down the site and then try to open it again. I cant understand it as all other websites are working fine.

Re: Website problems?
I'm with TalkTalk and have no problems.
Virgin is a cable service so perhaps you need to report the problem to their customer services - if the problem is with the X Marks server it would surely be affecting others equally and I am on the same side of the pond as you.

Re: Website problems?
thats why I wondered if anyone else was affected. Seems strange why its only this forum though. I will check with Virgin to see if there are any known faults. Thanks Trefor

Re: Website problems?
Virgins are understandably skittish around the overwhelming masculinity of the kilt. Very dangerous...

Re: Website problems?
I don't think I know who I'm with anymore. I can't open the Photo page and this applies on two different computers and makes me think it is the site rather than my settings

I'm with Virgin as well, but the other end of the country to you so different access points. I'm having no trouble at all
One possible answer may be that the server for X Marks is in North America and sometimes there can be routing problems that affect transatlantic IP addresses. It's referred to as a "pipe" problem and does not always affect everyone the same way. It will probably clear spontaneously in a few hours and it's a bit like the routing problems you can get with telephone lines, where you get an engaged or unobtainable signal even though the person you are calling is free but one of the exchanges en route is tied up
I may be wrong but it's as good a guess as any

Re: Website problems?
thats the best answer i have had so far, am still experiencing problems, sometimes I can access the site and sometimes i have to reload 2 or 3 times before I get anything. As you say hopefully the issue will resolve itself in due course.
thanks again to everyone.
