Man...that is a GORGEOUS jacket! I need to start looking around for anything if I can score a gem like that. Well done.

Yes indeedy, that is a great looking jacket Tobus. I have a comparable patterned jacket that has become my favorite. I think the bold patterns really add to the uniqueness of the kilt outfit. It's not just the kilt when I wear that jacket, it's the whole package.

    Great score!

    Re: More new goodies!

Thanks, gentlemen! The moment I saw it on eBay, I realized I had to have it. My wife looked at it and rolled her eyes, thinking it would look ridiculous. She is still working on getting past her American hang-ups about mixing patterns. But when she saw the jacket with the rest of the outfit, she changed her tune pretty quickly. She really likes it now.

I think it will look even better with my Colquhoun kilt or the new kilt I'm in the process of getting made in a custom weave, and with more appropriate kilt hose.

As for the hose, yes, I suppose they aren't "that bad". I've probably just gotten spoiled on the higher quality stuff, and have a hard time wearing these now. Like trying to enjoy your old Volkswagen Beetle after owning an Audi A4. Maybe I'll just keep these in reserve. But I will be definitely ordering some more Lewis hose in the next couple of weeks. The ancient green colour they have is really nice, and is what I was trying to go for with these pictures.

Another thing I find amusing is that I bought that Balmoral that I'm wearing in the pictures quite a while back. My wife absolutely hated it (which is pretty important to me if I want her to accompany me anywhere when kilted). So I put it in the closet for a while. I decided to see how it looked with this jacket, and she actually likes it. I don't know if it's just the combination of the bonnet with the jacket that she likes, or if she just had enough time to adjust her mental views on the Balmoral. Either way, it's a good thing. She's coming around...

Tobus, another excellent find and great to see other members breaking out into checks and window panes. I agree that your Balmoral sets off the outfit magnificently and the hose look fine, though I can understand the want for thicker ones. Well done.

Another great find Tobus, you must spend hours trolling Ebay - it certainly pays. You are far too good to yourself. (More envy).

No, actually, I usually don't have time for trolling eBay. Heck, I don't even have time to read all the threads on this board that I'd like to!

I've a friend, fellow XMarker and gentleman extraordinaire, who has led me to some really good finds that he comes across on eBay when they are in my size. At the last Highland Games, he was sporting a wonderful tweed jacket and waistcoat that I couldn't help commenting on. He's got excellent tastes, and I doff my bonnet to him for his guidance.

The awesome part is that these jackets usually come at a pretty good price, since there aren't that many people who wear my size.
