Re: An ensemble I just threw together....
I like the outfits... but concur about the sox...
not so sure about the shiny accessory on the sporran...
looks cool, but they're quite illegal in many places, a felony - go straight to jail to possess at all, in California...
Oregon law only addresses brass knuckles if they're concealed so far as I can tell, so compliance in that situation...
a fine example of checking your local laws....
thoroughly...

Re: An ensemble I just threw together....
Good to see a post from you again (fellow NW Oregonian)!
Congrats on the weight loss! The outfit looks great!
Hope your outing went well also.
Perhaps will bump into you again sometime at the Portland Games (has been a couple of of years since I talked to you there while you were wearing a great kilt).

Whoah....Just checking back, and noticed that the lengthy, well-thought-out response I typed out last week isn't here....Bummer
I do however really appreciate the feedback and hope that the accidental lack of response didn't seem rude.
I think those of you who mentioned my lack of proper hose pretty much nailed it.
I just got laid off, so I won't be able to run out and buy proper black/charcoal colored hose just yet.
I have one pair of "real" hose, but they are green....Maybe an inexpensive solution would be to hit the thrift stores to see what might be lurking there, or pick up a new pair of black woolen hiking socks...
I have always worn/used old military surplus stuff...I was thinking about how those WW1/WW2 style lace up canvas gaiters (dyed black) would look..... Probably a bit too much without the helmet and rifle :-)
I have a shorter leather jacket which is a natural "buckskin" color and rather plain...I'm considering the option of doing some mods such as adding front pockets, dying it black and *maybe* adding some chrome studs. It's just a thought right now of course :-)
Anyways, I have to get running, but thanks so much for the feedback! I'll write more later as time allows

I dont have any major issues with the over all look. The 2 things that catch my eye are the sporran & hose.
I feel that a black sporran or adding some black would help the over all look. If you want to keep some dark look, I would add some black or grey hose.
Over all I like the look! Well done.

Yeah, to echo what others have already said, I think if you are gonna go with the scrunchy socks look, I would maybe locate a shorter style leather jacket.
With the one you are wearing in the pic, I would go with the kilt hose and flashes thing. Just my first thoughts when I saw the pic.
Rock on friend!

First thing I noticed was the kilt pin--maybe try straight up and down...but that could be the OCD kicking in.
