Even though I'm a rather large size I've had no trouble picking up used Argyll jackets (kilt jackets) in both black and tweed, rather inexpensively, on Ebay.
This discourages me from going through the trouble of coverting an ordinary tweed sport coat. (And, no matter how well a conversion is done, they rarely are correctly shaped in front.)
I recently picked up this jacket in a lovely tweed. It's very high-quality with great detailing and very nice heavy fabric. Cost around $100.
