Thanks again, Barb!
I got the tartan from Tartantown in British Colombia. It is one of their House range, which they told me was woven locally there.

I have had trouble in the past with Fraser and Kirkbright tartan in terms of both width variations and "skew".

Thanks! I think I'm going to have to go to some of the bigger fabric stores in Chicago. I was looking for some wool in my local Joann's but they don't seem to cater to our crowd. (If I wanted to make a kilt in My Little Pony print fleece, I'd know where to go, though.)

Yes, Joann's is definitely awash in fleece.....
Fraser and Kirkbright do have a remnant in "Camel Stewart" in 13 oz that is a reasonable price (http://www.wooltartan.com/tartans5.htm). As I said above, I've not been fond of their tartan in the past, but, for a first kilt, this is a reasonable way to get a piece of tartan.

I can't wait to see Llama in his new My Little Pony fleece kilt! IF it turns out maybe I'll make one for myself ... or maybe not.

I did think about buying some bright orange terrycloth and making a beach kilt. All of that fleece must have been getting to my head.

My daughter would really go for the pony motif! I can only imagine how difficult terrycloth would be to pleat.
