I would be loath to buy it from them after the hassle I had getting a refund from the kilt I bought off them.

That wouldn't happen with a USAK's or a Freedom's kilts I promise you. Contact them, and they will make you a better kilt in Powell tartan.

All of the Welsh Tartan are woven in in 13oz only and do not have a kilt selvedge so must be hemmed.

I find the weave to be far more loose or open that what we would expect with kilt fabrics.

I'm sorry but you won't find the Howells/Powell Tartan anywhere else.
That's what I suspected. Thanks for that, I guess I'll live without it.

As pointed out, they get them from WTC.

Fair enough. I hope you can somehow get to wear it in the future if there's a better solution comes up.

Freedom Kilts and USA Kilts (and others) can get the tartan from WTC and build you a kilt with the stabilizer/strength you desire.

If I were you, I'd go with Paul Henry or Houston's, both of whom are U.K. based. They could likely get the Welsh tartan for cheaper than you could in the process as well.

There's a difference between getting the CLOTH from WTC and the KILT from WTC. We (as does Freedom Kilts) order the cloth and make the kilts in house.
